We examine the concept of the border as both a destructive and constructive elemen - as a practice of exclusion or protection - in physical or immaterial Form. Is it Fortress, a Retreat, or a mechanism of control? The theme is open to your interpretation: architectural, political, social or personal. Projects, perspectives, Statements. There are no Limits to your creativity! To be part of the magazine write us a mail with a short description of your contribution until July 30th. We will then get back to you with more information. In der Ausgabe 003 des Situation Magazines >> FÜHLST DU DICH JETZT SICHER? << widmen wir uns dem komplexen Verhältnis von Sicherheit, Schutz, Abgrenzung und Teilhabe aus einer räumlichen Perspektive. Wir betrachten die Grenze als destruktives oder konstruktives Element - als ausgrenzende  oder schutzstiftende Praktik - in physischer oder immaterieller Form. Ist sie Festung, Rückzugsort, oder Kontrollmechanismus? Das Thema ist offen für eure Interpretation: architektonisch, politisch, gesellschaftlich oder persönlich. Projekte, Perspektiven, Statements. Euch sind keine Grenzen gesetzt!Um Teil des Magazins zu werden, schreiben uns bis zum 30. Juli eine Mail mit einer kurzen Beschreibung eures Beitrages. The world is in constant crisis, or rather: crises. Meanwhile, the practices concerned with our built environment have witnessed a widening gap between the discursive and the real: two self-reinforcing loops of pre-scripted problems to be solved by prescribed solutions. Discourse refuses to be pinned down, while practice stomps on with its continuous replica of the status quo. How did this disconnect come to be? Can we try something new? SITUATION is about the uncomfortable questions. SITUATION is about taking a position, about taking a stand. SITUATION is about knowing where you are expressing yourself from, and knowing that every point of view enables a unique perspective. SITUATION is about being aware that there is seldom only one answer to a question. SITUATION is a magazine published once a year, featuring content both in English and German. As a platform for discourse on spatial practices — including but not limited to architecture, human geography, and urban planning — SITUATION is committed not only to editorial quality, but to looking above and beyond, both in terms of location and diversity of perspective. Both established and upcoming creators will have the opportunity to submit their work. Each issue concerns itself with a single question, to which contributors can suggest their answers in any printable format. We are driven by thinking about human-made spaces such as architecture, landscape architecture, urbanism, urban studies, as well as human and political geography and spatial artistic practices. But SITUATION is also about the everyday spatial practice called life. We are fully funded by Roundabout e.V, whose work and our work are completely voluntarily. The magazine is meant to give a platform to our contributors to create, think, express, collaborate, and be heard. It is published both in English and German, without translations. Each issue will tackle another question. For our first issue we ask you: IS IT A CRIME? Roundabout e.V. is an independent student organization based at TU Berlin. Since its founding in 2015, it has focused on fostering discourse about and within spatial practice and education. It has hosted a diverse range of events, including lectures, panels, site visits, screenings, and a summer school. SITUATION is Roundabout’s next step in bringing the discussion about space into the public sphere.
